Milkvein, is a painting of at least 169 milk ducts softly, softly dripping and leaking the sustenance of life’s beginnings. Experiencing maternity for the first time, I wanted to speak to the alchemical magic of my body circulating, not just blood, but milk for the nourishment of my infant. These paintings are abstractions of alimentary love and tender nourishment. Here, the grid speaks to the repetition in cycles and the recurrence of biological rhythms such as nursing.
